Kabiru News network ( KNN ) – Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Thursday he had agreed with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad to establish an English-language television channel to combat Islamophobia Worldwide .
This came in two tweets published by Khan on his Twitter account on Wednesday, after a tripartite meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, in New York City, on the sidelines of their participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly 2019.
“President Erdogan and Prime Minister Mahathir and I took a joint decision at our meeting today to establish an English-language television channel to combat the challenges posed by the phenomenon of Islamophobia and correct misconceptions about our great religion of Islam,” Khan said.
“The channel will work to correct the misconceptions of some people against Muslims,” Khan said, adding that the channel will focus on clarifying insulting religious values, producing films and series that tell the history of Muslims to educate others and create a special media for Muslims.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the tripartite summit he had met with the prime ministers of Pakistan and Malaysia dealt with critical issues such as Jerusalem and Islamophobia.
Earlier this year, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said at a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara that with the cooperation of Turkey and Pakistan, Islamic civilization could be promoted again.
“By uniting our minds and abilities, we can advance the great Islamic civilization that once existed, by working jointly between Malaysia and Turkey, while also cooperating with Pakistan,” Mahathir said.
The Turkish-Malaysian-Pakistani move comes at a time of increasing attacks against Muslims in many Western countries, most notably the Christchurch massacre in New Zealand.
Official statistics also showed a high frequency of attacks against Muslims in Germany and Britain.
